Assistant Professor (BAT)
The School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences (SPBS) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale announces an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Behavior Analysis. We seek one candidate in the area of Applied Behavior Analysis that includes a primary focus in established areas that complement those of existing faculty (e.g., early intervention techniques, Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental disabilities, Functional Communication Training, Functional Analysis, parent training). The anticipated starting date for all positions is August 11, 2026.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
The candidate is expected to maintain an active research program and seek external funding for a structured research program that includes opportunities for graduate students to contribute to the research. Candidate is expected to contribute to oversight of the on-campus autism clinic. Oversight of thesis and dissertation research is expected.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related discipline and certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA or BCBA-D) are required for the position. Required qualifications include a history of peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated potential for the following: maintaining an active, independent research program that involves students; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses; supervising practicum and internship experiences; advising graduate students at the masters and doctoral levels; and supervising thesis and dissertation research. ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the Ph.D. will be completed by August 11, 2026. If all requirements for the PhD have not been completed, a one-year term appointment may be offered in accordance with university policy.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include postdoctoral training, an established record of securing external research funding.

The Behavior Analysis and Therapy (BAT) program provides training in behavior analysis through its undergraduate minor, ABAI Accredited Masters, and Doctoral programs.
