Assistant Professor

Job Summary:

This position focuses on providing neuropsychological assessment for children (birth to young adulthood) with pediatric and congenital heart disease, as well as broader pediatric neurological populations, at Children's Hospital Colorado and its network of care sites. Responsibilities include conducting primarily outpatient evaluations, including comprehensive evaluations in neuropsychology clinic as well as screening and targeted evaluations in multidisciplinary settings, and less frequently, inpatient consultations. Additional duties include teaching and supervising neuropsychology externs, interns, and postdoctoral fellows, and participating in educational activities such as case conferences and lectures. The role also involves contributing to program development and research/scholarly work in the sections of Cardiology and Neurology. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in Clinical Neuropsychology is expected within five years of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing primarily outpatient neuropsychology evaluations of children, from birth through young adulthood, with a range of medical disorders including, but not limited to, epilepsy, cancer and blood disorders, neuroimmunology disorders, cardiac disease, stroke, neuromuscular disease, genetic disorders, sickle cell disease, craniofacial disorders, and metabolic disorders.
  • A special emphasis for this position is on providing neuropsychological evaluations for children with pediatric and congenital heart disease. The clinical load for this position will comprise approximately 50% cardiology patients and 50% general neurology patients.
  • Providing neuropsychological screening and targeted evaluations within multidisciplinary settings, as well as more traditional neuropsychological evaluations.
  • Developing, enhancing, and contributing to existing clinical and research programs for cardiology populations.
  • Participating in formal training programs for neuropsychological externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Maintaining an active commitment to providing care for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have completed an APPCN-member fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology
  • Applicants must be eligible for or have completed Board Certification (ABPP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pediatric neuropsychology teaching, program development, and research
  • Clinical and/or research experience with pediatric cardiology populations is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills; both written and orally
  • Broad knowledge and clinical skills in Pediatric Neuropsychology
  • Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Assistant Professor: $104,000- $120,000
