Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering (Tenure Track) – School of Science and Engineering
The School of Science and Engineering at Duquesne University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Science with a start date of August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to help build the new civil engineering program at Duquesne and to train the next generation of engineers for the ever-changing workforce. Candidates with expertise in structural, geotechnical, and environmental/water resources are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses, developing a funded research program, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, university, and profession.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field by the start date of employment.
- Ability to teach core undergraduate civil engineering courses.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Record of teaching excellence
- Experience with ABET accreditation
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Alternately, the applicants may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
- Ability and willingness to contribute actively to the Mission of the University and to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University.
