Essential Position
Functions & Duties:
Responsibilities (95%)
The faculty member will contribute to the mission of the Occupational Therapy
Doctorate (OTD) program through excellence in teaching, student mentorship, scholarly engagement, and service, with teaching serving as the
primary area of responsibility.
Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction across the OTD curriculum; developing
and evaluating course content; advising and mentoring students; participating in curriculum development and continuous quality improvement
initiatives; engaging in scholarly activities; and contributing to departmental, school, institutional, and professional service.
Program faculty have access to clinical practice and research opportunities through the School of Health Professions and Sciences'
20,000-square-foot rehabilitation clinic and through collaborative partnerships across LSU Health Shreveport, including the adjacent Ochsner
LSU Health Shreveport Level I Trauma Center. Opportunities exist for clinical collaboration, community engagement, program development, and
practice-based scholarship.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to student success, collaborative teamwork, academic
excellence, and professional leadership. Faculty are expected to work effectively with colleagues across the program, school, and university
while contributing to a collegial, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
Depending on qualifications and expertise,
opportunities may be available to teach, mentor, or serve on committees within the PhD Program in Rehabilitation Sciences. This position is
situated within a vibrant academic medical center that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among health professionals, scientists,
educators, and community partners.
Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties:
- Marginal Functions
(5%) - Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Regular attendance is required to perform the
functions of this position. The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.
Qualifications:
The applicant must meet the following:
- Doctor of Occupational Therapy or related Doctorate Degree from a
regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution. - Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Louisiana
(or eligible for licensure). - Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Minimum of five years' experience
as a licensed occupational therapy practitioner. - Documented expertise in the area of teaching responsibility and knowledge of
content delivery methods (hybrid and in-person teaching).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Content expertise in
pediatrics. - Teaching experience at the postgraduate level preferred.
- Documented experience conducting/managing OT related
research preferred.
