The West Virginia University Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine seeks to fill two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on the fundamental mechanisms underlying human disease are particularly sought.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine offers a collaborative, multifaceted academic environment with active research in Sensory and Vision Science; Structural, Cell, and RNA Biology; Cellular Metabolism; and Age-Related Diseases.

Faculty are backed by substantial salary support. The department maintains a highly regarded faculty mentoring program to help advance the careers of junior faculty. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is part of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, which incorporates the WVU Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Public Health. Qualifications

The successful candidate will develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in departmental teaching at the undergraduate, graduate or professional levels. Minimum qualifications are a terminal degree in the biomedical or related fields, at least one year's postdoctoral experience in a related field, and high-quality publications. A candidate with a PhD in another field will be considered providing they have 2 years of postdoctoral training in the biomedical or biological sciences and have demonstrated successful contributions to biomedical research.
