ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HISTORICAL STUDIES - HISTORY - TENURE-TRA
The Department of Social Sciences and Historical Studies at Texas Woman’s University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History position beginning Fall 2026. The successful applicant will be able to teach U.S. and the world (with a preference for the long 19th century). We are particularly interested in scholars who have training or experience in Public History. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in History in hand no later than August 2026. We seek a historian with the ability to teach courses at all levels of our undergraduate curriculum, including the American history survey, Public History courses, and courses in their area of specialty for advanced undergraduates. The candidate will teach courses in their specialty for our online, synchronous Master’s program, which has a robust Public History concentration. The candidate will also contribute to department efforts to increase program enrollment and retention. The department, which also includes Political Science and Sociology, has three tenured or tenure-track History faculty members offering degrees to approximately 60 undergraduate History majors and minors, and 32 Master’s students. Texas Woman’s University is located in Denton, Texas, north of Dallas and Fort Worth and 45 minutes from both DFW and Love Field airports.
