Assistant Professor - Digital Media
Job Summary
The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach courses in the discipline for majors and non-majors alike. This faculty position, based in the Department of Art, is a 10-month academic year position.
Responsibilities
Faculty - Teaching/Instructing
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring students
- Contribute to the core curriculum
- Other teaching responsibilities which will include Core and foundational courses, along with Digital Media courses spanning from introductory to advanced levels. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Faculty - Service to Institution
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, mentoring students, and support of department-level outreach activities. Service to the Institution may include: Committee memberships and offices, Programs directed and advised, Participation in special programs or projects, Other service in the institution.
Faculty - Professional Development
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession. Academic Achievement/Professional Development: Publications (editing, citations), Commercial product applications, Exhibitions, Presentations at professional meetings, Publication; peer reviewed scholarship, Current work in circulation or in progress, Grants received or applied for, Membership and participation in professional organizations, Other professional service of development activities.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master of Fine Arts or other terminal degree in Digital Media, visual communications, graphic design, or related field by time of appointment. Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Other Required Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in design practices, which may include digital media, motion graphics, interactive design, animation, web, and print. We are especially interested in candidates who stay current with evolving technologies and who bring inventive approaches to digital media and design education.
Required Experience
Some teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
Preferred Experience
Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline. Record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works.
