Department Information
Within this setting, the Department of Economics offers a BBA in Economics on the Armstrong and Statesboro campuses and has launched an online concentration in Business Economics. Faculty members also contribute to the MBA and WebMBA programs. Graduates of the BBA in Economics are equipped with superior analytical problem-solving skills and are well prepared for meaningful careers or advanced graduate study. The faculty make impactful contributions by engaging in relevant research and offering valuable service to the business community, public, and the profession.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Economics department chair, the Assistant Professor of Economics position requires teaching undergraduate economics courses with an international focus (international trade and/or international economics), along with lower-division courses and courses in related fields, as needed. The faculty member may occasionally be assigned to teach online or on an alternate campus. The position also entails producing academic research of the quantity and caliber expected of a faculty member at a Carnegie (R1) research institution. Service to the department, college, and discipline are also expected as part of the faculty member's duties. The position is a 10-month, tenure track appointment.
Required Qualifications
- Earned Ph.D. in Economics, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Economics, by August 1, 2026.
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Ph.D. in Economics with a research field in international economics.
- Primary research field in international trade. Secondary preference for international finance or closely related fields.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
