Job Overview
To this end, the Science and Health Department at UC Clermont College seeks applications for a full-time, educator-track faculty position in the area of Medical Laboratory Technology.
Essential Functions
Educator-track faculty responsibilities include the following:
- Teaching twelve (12) contact-hours for three semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer), for a total of 36 contact hours annually. This individual should expect to focus on teaching medical laboratory technology courses in face to face, online, and hybrid formats, but may be asked to teach other courses as requested.
- Responding to student inquiries in a timely manner, posting and keeping of office hours convenient to students, and/or by appointment.
- Academic advising of students.
- Participating in ongoing scholarship/research/professional development.
- Participating in service to the department, college, university, and community.
- Serve as the Medical Laboratory Technician Program Coordinator. This role involves developing and maintaining a curriculum aligned with current industry credentials, standards, and certifications, ensuring compliance with National Accrediting Agency for Clinical and Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accreditation requirements. Responsibilities include continuous curriculum evaluation to maintain relevance, identifying and securing clinical partners, and coordinating clinical placements in collaboration with the College of Allied Health Sciences' BS in Medical Laboratory Science faculty. The role also entails recommending appropriate course materials, assessing and maintaining functional lab equipment, and recruiting students through events like Open House. Additional duties involve developing and implementing a learning outcomes assessment plan, conducting program reviews, overseeing faculty recruitment and staffing, managing budgets, and fulfilling accreditation obligations, including reporting. Establishing and leading an Advisory Committee with at least 80% external members representing the medical lab technology industry is also essential.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s or doctoral degree in relevant discipline. ASCP BOC or ASCP BOC generalist certification as a medical laboratory scientist. At least three (3) years of college-level teaching experience as the primary instructor, including experience with a learning management system (LMS). Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures. Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating MLT programs/policies, experience in use of innovative instructional technologies that contribute to the excellence of the learning experience and academic community, experience teaching in both online and traditional classroom environments, and experience teaching students with varying preparation, interests and aptitudes. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high academic standards while encouraging and supporting students with varying backgrounds, interests, and aptitudes. All candidates must demonstrate/provide evidence of effective teaching and professional development and must have appropriate degrees awarded by the time of appointment.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Extensive experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating MLT programs/policies as a Program Director. Extensive experience in use of innovative instructional technologies that contribute to the excellence of the learning experience and academic community. Extensive experience teaching in both online and traditional classroom environments. Extensive experience teaching students with varying preparation, interests and aptitudes. Familiarity with local health care network and professionals.
