Department Information: The School of Human Ecology is a dynamic and growth-oriented applied research unit with over 17 faculty and staff. It serves over 700 undergraduate majors in disciplines including Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design. The program focuses on human behavior and experience, emphasizing impactful research, hands-on learning, and community engagement.

Job Summary: Reporting to the School of Human Ecology Chair, the Assistant Professor position requires undergraduate teaching, developing a productive program of research and/or creative scholarship, and providing service to the School, college, and university. It is a 10-month tenure-track appointment.

Required Qualifications:

• Earned terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA) in Fashion Merchandising or Apparel Design, or a closely related field by August 1, 2026.
• Demonstrated ability to teach courses such as Intro to the Fashion Industry, Intro to Apparel Construction, etc.
• Record of advancing research and scholarship in fashion merchandising and apparel design.
• Potential for securing external funding.
• Ability to build industry and community partnerships.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to engage with student success initiatives and service commitments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year of college teaching experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CLO 3D, etc.
• Experience in various course modalities and student mentoring.
• Professional experience in the apparel industry.

Proposed Salary: Commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
