Offer Description
The Rector of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences announces an open competition for the position of Assistant Professor (F/M/N) in the Research and Teaching Staff Group at the Institute of Biology, Division of Experimental Biology (replacement contract).
Job Description:
- Conducting scientific research in the field of molecular and cellular biology, including applying for external funding for research projects;
- Preparing and delivering academic courses in molecular biology, immunology, and biochemistry in Polish and English;
- Disseminating research findings through scientific publications in journals indexed in SCOPUS or Web of Science;
- Participating in national and international scientific conferences and symposia;
- Participating in workshops and training programs to enhance professional qualifications;
- Engaging in administrative and organizational activities for the department and the university;
- Performing other tasks assigned by the Head of the Unit resulting from the profile and character of the unit and the university.
Requirements:
- Education: PhD degree in biological sciences (specifically in molecular biology) or related fields;
- Teaching Experience: Academic teaching experience in biochemistry and/or molecular biology;
- Laboratory Experience: Several years of laboratory experience related to biological research;
- Scientific Achievements: Track record of scientific publications in journals indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science;
- Technical & Methodological Skills: Hands-on experience in advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, primary cell and stem cell culture and transfection, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunostaining, and fluorescence/confocal microscopy;
- Cell Culture & Biobanking: Proficiency in maintaining 2D, 3D (organoid), and suspension cell cultures, as well as knowledge of the principles and techniques of biological and medical sample biobanking;
- Bioinformatics: Knowledge of modern bioinformatic tools used in molecular and cellular biology;
- Data Management: Strong analytical skills and ongoing reporting of research results;
- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Polish; English proficiency at a minimum B2 level;
- Legal Compliance: Meeting the requirements specified in Art. 113 of the Act of July 20, 2018 — Law on Higher Education and Science (full public rights, full legal capacity, clean criminal record, no disciplinary penalties).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in working with the Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation and/or Bioethics Committee;
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical and/or preclinical research.

- Remuneration including a base salary (not lower than 8,211 PLN gross), seniority allowance (3–20%), 13th-month salary, holiday subsidies, and other variable bonuses per UPWr Remuneration Regulations;

Candidates who do not possess a certificate but meet the requirement of English proficiency at a minimum B2 level shall submit a declaration of language proficiency; verification will take place during the interview stage.
Candidates who do not hold a language certificate but meet the requirement of English proficiency at a minimum B2 level may submit a declaration confirming their English language skills. Their proficiency will be verified during the interview.
