Assistant Professor - General Engineering

Anderson University and the College of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, 9-month position in General Engineering with a start date of August 2026. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates with substantial teaching and supporting industry experience will be considered. Faculty rank and status (including the option of tenure-track) will be determined at the time of appointment based upon the degrees, experience, and record of scholarship. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The University seeks candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning.

Opened in Fall 2020, the College of Engineering at Anderson University offers undergraduate degrees in General Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Rooted in Anderson’s commitment to a liberal arts foundation, the General Engineering program integrates a student-centered, interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning from the first year. Entrepreneurially minded learning is woven throughout the program, equipping students to think creatively and act with purpose in solving real-world problems. Innovative pedagogical approaches such as active team-based problem solving are encouraged and reflect the collaborative environments students will encounter in industry. In alignment with the College’s focus on practical application, all engineering students complete a required internship or cooperative education experience, ensuring they graduate with both technical proficiency and professional readiness. The program is designed to develop well-rounded engineers who are as confident in their communication and critical thinking as they are in their technical expertise.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline. A minimum M.S. in engineering is required for appointment at the rank of instructor. A M.S. in engineering and extensive industry experience is required for a Professor of Practice. Candidates prepared to teach a wide range of courses that may include foundational, upper level, and cross disciplinary engineering courses supporting multiple engineering majors are highly desired. Courses may include first year introductory courses, engineering fundamentals such as statics, dynamics or circuits, programming and engineering computation, or engineering design. All candidates must have a record of successful impactful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Industry experience or substantial research in the candidate’s field of expertise is preferred.
