Department Information
The College of Education (https://www.georgiasouthern.edu/colleges/education) offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students for careers in public education, community agencies, and higher education. The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development (https://www.georgiasouthern.edu/colleges/education/departments/leadership-technology-human-development), one of four departments within the College of Education, includes four distinct programs: Educational Leadership, Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Instructional Technology. The programs in Educational Leadership provide graduate degrees with specializations in P-12 and higher education leadership at the master's, educational specialist, and doctoral levels. The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership is a member of the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED), reflecting a commitment to practitioner-focused leadership development.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor of Higher Education Leadership requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities, as well as a terminal degree. The position involves collaborating with faculty across the College of Education, supervising and assisting with field experiences, and performing service to the department, college, university, and professional community. Additional position responsibilities include the maintenance of an active research agenda involving regular publications and professional presentations. The position is an academic, tenure-track (10-month) appointment.
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, Student Affairs, Student Personnel, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in higher education or educational leadership by August 1, 2026.
- Minimum of three years of administrative experience in higher education
- Ability to develop and teach asynchronous and synchronous online courses
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy mentoring, and curriculum design and development
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to coordinate programs through recruitment, selection, and advisement
- Experience as a member of doctoral dissertation committees
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the graduate level
- P-20 educational leadership experience
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
