Offer Description
It is hereby made public that for 30 working days counted from the first working day following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República, an international position is open for the recruitment of one Assistant Professor in the disciplinary area of Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, at the School of Science and Technology, of the University of Évora, following the rules of articles 37.º to 51º, 61º and 62º-A of the Estatuto da Carreira Docente Universitária (ECDU) republished as attachment to the Decreto-Lei n.º 205/2009, of August 31, altered by the Lei nº 8/2010, of May 13, and further applicable laws and regulations, particularly the Regulamento dos Concursos para Recrutamento de Professores das Carreiras Docentes na Universidade de Évora, henceforth called Regulamento, approved by the Despacho n.º 9696/2024 (2.ª série), of August 21st, altered by the Despacho nº 2123/2025, of February 14.
The joint order nº 373/2000, of March 31st, made compulsory the inclusion of the following reference in all civil service recruitment procedure notices:
“As established in item h) of article 9.º of the Portuguese Constitution, Public Administration, when acting as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunity between men and women in access to employment and professional progression, scrupulously endeavouring to avoid any form of discrimination”.
In accordance with articles 37º to 51º of the ECDU and other applicable legislation and with article 8º of the Regulamento, the following provisions will apply:
I - Authorisation order - the present open position was authorised by order of the Rector of the University of Évora, in June 11, 2026.
II - Place of work: School of Sciences and Technology of the University of Évora.
III - Admission requirements:
III.1. Chapter IV of the Regulamento is applied regarding verification and compliance with the requirements of admission and exclusion of the candidates.
III.2. Under the terms of Article 41-A of the ECDU, only those who hold a PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering, on the closing date for applications, as well as a command of spoken and written Portuguese, may be admitted to this competition.
III.3. If a foreign higher education institution has awarded the PhD degree, the candidates are admitted, according to paragraph e) of nº2 of article 4th of Decreto-Lei nº 60/2018, of August 3 and the registration/recognition of the degree in Portugal must be carried out after the end of the competition, under the terms set out in Decreto-Lei nº 66/2018, of August 16th, being a requirement for the act of signature of the contract.
III.4. Foreign candidates, except those of an official Portuguese expression, must provide an officially recognised statement, demonstrating that they have mastered the Portuguese language, in both written and spoken forms.
IV — Admission requirements in absolute merit:
IV.1. Article 12º of the Regulamento is applied concerning admission on the absolute merit of candidates.
IV.2. The jury will deliberate on the approval or rejection in absolute merit, through justified nominal voting, where abstentions are not allowed. Approval in absolute merit is understood as receiving a positive vote of more than half of the jury members.
IV.3. The admission in absolute merit is based on the overall curriculum, which the jury deems scientific merit, research ability and value of the pedagogical activity, as already developed, in the area or disciplinary areas the position respects, and appropriate to the respective category.
V - Valuation parameters and ranking in relative merit, respective weighting and final valuation system:
V.1. The method of selection is curricular evaluation. This curricular evaluation takes into account the general functions committed to the teachers by article 4 and, according to nº 6 of article 50 of the ECDU, is based on the following items:
a) Research;
b) Teaching;
c) Knowledge transfer;
d) Academic management;
e) Scientific and pedagogical project.
V.2. In the application of the criteria defined in V.1., the following parameters and weights will be used:
a) Research, with the weight of 40%, which comprises:
a1) Scientific, cultural, artistic or technological production and its relevance to the disciplinary area in which the position is open;
a2) Other scientific, cultural, artistic or technological activities.
b) Teaching, with the weight of 20%, which comprises:
b1) Teaching experience (UC taught, teaching hours and student assessment, if applicable);
b2) Student supervision;
b3) Publication of textbooks with ISBN and other pedagogical texts;
b4) Pedagogical innovation.
c) Knowledge transfer, with a weighting factor of 10% and comprising the following parameters:
c1) Intellectual and industrial property;
c2) Contracts for the provision of specialised services;
c3) Training programmes;
c4) Non-academic experience relevant to the disciplinary area of the open position.
d) University management, with a weighting factor of 5%;
e) Scientific-pedagogical project, with a weighting factor of 25%, on a scientific development project in the disciplinary area, within the Research Units of the University of Évora, especially the School of Science and Technology, presented in the following terms:
e1) maximum of 5 thousand (5000) words;
e2) Submit a concise research proposal and a strategy for training in the subject area of the competition, highlighting the innovative nature of the project, its relationship with the University's strategy, as well as its potential interaction with other research units or organisational units of the University, especially the School of Science and Technology. The scientific aspect must be related to the pedagogical component that the candidate intends to implement.
e3) As in a scientific work, the document must be framed by the State of the Art, Materials and Methods.
e4) Should refer to the strategy for attracting human and financing resources that support developing and consolidating the proposed research strategy. The candidate should also add previous results of their investigation that can support the submitted proposal.
e5) Contain a summary of the most recent bibliographic references and a summary of the expected results.
V.4. The jury will evaluate the candidates approved in absolute merit, following the procedure expressed in Article 22º of the Regulamento.
V.3. The ranking of the candidates will be the result of the weighted average of quantitative scores obtained in each of the evaluation parameters, within a range of 0 to 100 points.
VI - Public hearings:
VI.1. The jury will deliberate at the first meeting on the need to hold public hearings of all candidates approved in absolute merit which are intended, exclusively, to clarify what appears in the curriculum vitae submitted by the candidates, under the terms of b), nº 4 of article 50º of ECDU, with all candidates being informed, at least five working days in advance, of the date and place where such hearings will take place.
VI.2. The public hearings in the previous paragraph may be held by videoconference, but the jury must guarantee that these are carried out on equal terms for all candidates.
VI.3. According to paragraph a), nº 4 of article 50º of ECDU, the jury may also request candidates to provide additional documentation related to the submitted curriculum.
VII - Application submission:
VII.1. Applications must be sent within 30 working days from the day immediately following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República.
VII.2. The application and the rest of the application documents should preferably be submitted digitally, in PDF format, to the email address drhsc@uevora.pt or in person, during normal office hours (9 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 5.30 p.m.) at the address below, or sent by registered post until the deadline, to the University of Évora, Divisão de Recursos Humanos, Serviços Administrativos, Largo da Srª da Natividade, 7000-810 Évora.
VIII - Application form:
VIII.1. The application must be completed with the filing of a Requerimento, which is available on the website of the Administrative Services of the University of Évora at: www.sadm.uevora.pt/documentos/concursos/(id)/427/(basenode)/419 which expressly states the identification of the Edital number. The candidate must expressly state that they consent to communications and notifications within the framework of the competition taking place by email, and provide their address.
VIII.2. The application must be accompanied by the following documentation, preferably in digital format (PDF):
a) Documents proving that the candidate fulfils the conditions set out in the notice of competition, namely a certificate proving that you hold the required degrees and/or qualifications and a certificate of the length of service (if you have a civil service contract);
b) The candidate's curriculum vitae, dated and signed, with indication of the works carried out and published, as well as the teaching activities carried out. When drawing up the curriculum vitae, the candidate must comply with the organisation referred to in point V.2. of this notice;
c) Works that the candidate considers to be the most representative, up to a maximum of five works, and provide a brief justification for their contribution.
d) Digital format (PDF) of the Scientific-pedagogical project following point V.2 e) of this notice;
e) Other diplomas or certificates of studies referred in the curriculum vitae.
