Duties & Responsibilities:
- Normal teaching load is 12 credit hours with an option for an applied research (25%) component release
- Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in any of the following areas: meat science, poultry science, animal production, animal genetics, animal physiology, and animal behavior and welfare
- The successful candidate will develop an applied research program in their area of expertise, secure extramural funding, mentor thesis–level graduate students, and publish results in high-quality scientific journals
- Service and leadership activities with professional societies are encouraged, while service on departmental, college, and/or university committees is required
- The faculty member will have undergraduate recruiting and retention responsibilities for students in the Animal Science major
- Possibilities exist for summer salary support through summer teaching, research collaborations, and extramural funding
- The office of Research and Technology Transfer is available to assist with grant applications and other extramural funding opportunities
- Other duties as assigned

In addition to collaborative opportunities with colleagues within the College of Agriculture, A-State College of Agriculture faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with regional producers and scientists at other agricultural research institutions. These include area livestock and poultry producers as well as faculty in the A-State College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Sciences and Mathematics, the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, and the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.
Preferred Qualifications:
− Teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory settings
− Expertise in regionally relevant livestock and poultry production
− Involvement in collaborative research settings
− A track record of grant writing and journal publication success
− Involvement working with FFA/4-H and collegiate student organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. in Animal Science, or D.V.M. with teaching and/or research experience, or a closely related field. Candidates near degree completion of the Ph.D. (ABD) may be considered
Applicants must have expertise in the areas of livestock or poultry production and management, animal genetics, and animal physiology.
