Job Description
The Department of Arabic Language and Literature at United Arab Emirates University announces a vacant position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Applied Arabic Linguistics. Applicants must specialize in Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, in accordance with the appointment policies and standards approved by the University.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in Applied Linguistics or Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers from an internationally recognized university.
- A distinguished research record that includes publications in peer-reviewed academic journals indexed in the Scopus database, in accordance with the appointment and promotion criteria of United Arab Emirates University.
- Proven university-level teaching experience at reputable academic institutions.
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of specialization.
- Active contribution to scientific research, academic supervision, and service to the department and the university.
- Proficiency in the English language for scientific research purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching courses related to the field of specialization.
- Publishing high-quality scientific research in internationally refereed journals.
- Supervising master’s and doctoral theses (when required).
- Participating in academic committees and in quality assurance and accreditation activities.
Minimum Qualification
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.
Holding a PhD in Applied Linguistics or Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers from a recognized university, with a published research record in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Scopus database.
Preferred Qualification
Advanced research and teaching experience in programs for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, with an outstanding academic record that includes publications in high-impact journals indexed in the Scopus database.
Demonstrated contributions to curriculum development and academic quality assurance, experience in supervising graduate students, and working in prestigious international university environments.
Proficiency in the English language.
