Assistant Professor in Asset Management
Job Summary
As an Assistant Professor in Asset Management at the Faculty of Military Sciences (FMW) of the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA), you will play a key role in educating future military leaders. This position focuses on Asset Management, which involves the use, value, and functionalities of asset portfolios, as well as technical maintenance over the life cycle. You will contribute to research and teaching to ensure military leaders have the vision, knowledge, and skills to apply Asset Management effectively.
Responsibilities
- Independently conduct complex scientific research, including developing research plans, collecting data, translating international research contributions, and publishing scientific articles.
- Deliver and develop scientific education based on your own research for various audiences.
- Organize teaching sessions and create exam questions.
- Guide students by analyzing their progress, making work agreements, coaching their learning process, and supervising internships and graduation projects.
- Develop and innovate educational programs by monitoring and translating national and international developments in Asset Management and selecting relevant literature.
- Evaluate education through participation in internal working groups, analyzing execution with students and teachers, and producing evaluation reports.
- Participate in or lead committees, meetings, and working groups for faculty development.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary research, renewal, and development projects in Asset Management.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and assessment of teachers in your field.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed Master of Science and a nearly completed or completed PhD, preferably in Industrial Engineering and Management or a relevant field.
- One or more publications in international academic journals.
- Affinity with Dutch-language and complex work environments; Bachelor education is conducted in Dutch.
- Experience in developing new teaching methods, educational innovation projects, and conducting scientific research.
- Experience in teaching academic education is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in the quantitative aspects of Asset Management, such as reliability engineering and maintenance technology.
- Willingness to undergo a security investigation as part of the selection process.
- Competencies: Analytical skills, strong communication skills (at least B2 level), coaching abilities, environmental awareness regarding developments in Asset Management, and ability to collaborate with professors, colleagues, and committees.
What the Employer Offers
- Salary range: €5,748 to €7,427 gross per month based on a 38-hour workweek (scale 12).
- Temporary appointment for 6 months with prospects for a permanent position.
- Full-time position (38 hours per week).
