Assistant Professor in Business Strategy
The Dhillon School of Business (DSB) at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Business Strategy on our Calgary Campus beginning June 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and engage in research in strategy, with a preferred focus in one or more of the areas of general management, entrepreneurship, corporate governance, sustainability, or innovation. The successful candidate will also be expected to help teach and supervise students in our graduate programs, such as our research-based M.Sc. in Management and our Masters of Management programs.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in strategy, general management, entrepreneurship, corporate governance, innovation, or a related field, or be in the final stages of completing their dissertation in one of these areas; a completed DBA will also be considered. Candidates should have an active research program in any of these areas; preference will be given to candidates with interests in having students learn how to effectively use artificial intelligence, or in the use of artificial intelligence in organizations. Candidates should have experience teaching relevant courses at the University level.
A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and publishing research in quality journals is required. We also look for individuals who are interested in having demonstrated positive societal impact in their research and teaching. Online and hybrid teaching may be required, and courses may also be taught in the evenings and Saturdays, in addition to face-to-face daytime offerings.
We offer competitive salaries, attractive teaching loads, paid study leaves, and a comprehensive benefits package as well as research, travel and teaching support. The course load for a tenure track position is determined by the Dean in consultation with the successful candidate. It is typically a four course load of three credit hour courses per academic year, however this will depend on the needs of the Area and Faculty at the time of assignment. Teaching workload is reviewed and amended annually as needed.
Required documents include: a cover letter, a CV highlighting your academic qualifications, research record, relevant post-secondary teaching experience and, if applicable, industry work experience, previous student evaluations of teaching and a sample course outline, statement of teaching philosophy, the names of and contact information for three references (at least two of which should be able to speak to your research and teaching abilities), and a research working paper that is representative of your interests and abilities for which you are an author or co-author.
