Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Biochemistry
Job Summary
The College of Science and Mathematics, Chemistry and Biochemistry department at Augusta University is seeking candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor. Primary duties include teaching introductory general chemistry, chemistry for non-majors, and organic chemistry lectures and/or labs. Positions include a service and research component to strengthen undergraduate programs and are not tenure track.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Teach courses, labs, and selected lectures to undergraduate and/or graduate students on topics in Chemistry and Biochemistry, including organic, biochemistry, analytical, physical, and inorganic chemistries.
- Scholarship: Conduct research and other scholarly activities in chemistry and biochemistry, involving undergraduate science majors and instructing graduate students.
- Service: Participate in department, college, and university committees, work groups, and campaigns to support Augusta University's mission.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Education, or a closely related field. Evidence of ability as a teacher, activity as a scholar, and other assigned duties. Successful experience is required, though waived for those entering the academic profession.
Preferred Qualifications
Postdoctoral position and prior classroom teaching experience.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year-based (August through May). Full-time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to availability of funds.
