Working independently and collaboratively across the Department, Faculty and College, you will secure external research funding, lead research projects, and build a thriving research group comprising postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate and undergraduate students.
The role includes supervising, training and mentoring research students and staff, including PhD candidates, publishing in leading international journals, presenting at major conferences, and engaging with industry, government and other stakeholders to maximise research impact.
You will contribute to teaching and assessment across undergraduate, MSc and doctoral programmes through lectures, seminars, tutorials, coursework and supervision. This will include contributing to teaching on the MEng Civil Engineering programme and the third-year design project, as well as developing and supervising undergraduate and MSc research projects.
In addition, you will provide academic and pastoral support and contribute to curriculum development and the continuous enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment.
What we are looking for:
A PhD (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering Materials or a related field.
A developing national reputation in Civil Engineering Materials.
A strong publication record, commensurate with career stage.
Experience of training undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supervising higher degrees (PhD) is desirable
What we can offer you:
We are proud to support our staff with:
- The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of science for humanity.
- The opportunity to grow in your career with tailored programmes for academic staff including mentoring and dedicated support with navigating your career and managing research as well as a transparent promotion process.
