Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology and/or Neuroscience
Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences / Department of Psychology. Applicants with teaching interests and research expertise in the area of cognitive psychology and/or neuroscience are encouraged to apply. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1st, 2026.
The Department of Psychology is located on both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campus with this position being located at the Orillia campus. The small vibrant city of Orillia is located in central Ontario and known for its lakeside setting, cultural festivals, and welcoming community. A flourishing campus, local growing economic activity along with easy access to the natural beauty of the area provides an excellent quality of life for scholars, students, and families.
The Department in Orillia offers a 4-year HBA program with plans to expand programming in the future. The Department more broadly offers at the Thunder Bay campus arts and science undergraduate programs, graduate programs in Psychological Science (MSc and PhD), MA Clinical Psychology, and a CPA-accredited PhD Clinical Psychology degree.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a doctorate degree in psychology before starting the position.
- Demonstrate research productivity and the capacity to develop a strong research program and attract external research funding;
- Have demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses broadly related to their area of expertise and have evidence of an effective teaching record.
- Be able to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research and contribute to the service and administrative activities of the department, and the university; and,
- Demonstrated commitments to equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, belonging, and social justice.
