"Assistant Professor in Early Literacy or a related field"

The Faculty of Education is seeking a dynamic and innovative scholar with in-depth knowledge of the relationship between theoretical knowledge and professional practice to prepare preservice teachers, particularly in early years (PreK to grade 3). This is a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Early Literacy or a related field in Education.

Academic duties include: (i) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including course development, assessment, supervision of students in practicum/internship settings, and graduate research; (ii) conducting research and scholarly activities that contribute to broader discourse; and (iii) making contributions to the University and scholarly communities.

The successful candidate must relocate to Lethbridge, Alberta, and actively engage in university culture.

Qualifications: A doctorate in Early Literacy or a related field is required; ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates must teach in and contribute to relevant Bachelor of Education programs and graduate programming, with ability in online, face-to-face, and blended formats. School-based teaching experience in primary years, preferably in Canada, is preferred. Expertise in areas such as early reading, structured literacy, foundational word reading skills, reading acquisition, evidence-based reading instruction, and pedagogies of reading and writing is advantageous.
