McMaster University’s Faculty of Engineering invites applications for two full-time teaching stream positions at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, located on the main university campus, to begin on July 1, 2026.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. They should demonstrate a strong record of teaching excellence, including the ability to effectively integrate theory and practice, communicate clearly, and present material engagingly. A deep mastery of the subject matter, a commitment to pedagogical innovation, and an interest in teaching-related scholarly activities in Electrical and Computer Engineering are essential.

Candidates must have experience teaching in a degree-granting engineering program, including course design, lecture delivery, and curriculum development. They should be capable of teaching courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Evidence of teaching excellence and dedication to pedagogical inquiry may include teaching awards, notable accomplishments, conference presentations, a comprehensive teaching dossier, strong reference letters, and—if shortlisted—a compelling on-campus presentation.

It is anticipated that the successful applicants will contribute to the department’s collegial and collaborative intellectual community, as well as university-wide inclusive excellence goals and priorities. Applicants should also possess outstanding leadership and communication skills, a commitment to excellence in service, and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. All candidates will be expected to participate in the normal administrative, educational, and professional activities of the Department, Faculty and University. Applicants are expected to have licenses for the practice of engineering in Canada or the ability and eligibility to apply for an engineering license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario within 3 years.
