Augusta University's Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Experimental Psychology, anticipated to begin August 2026. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate students. Primary duties include teaching introductory courses, advanced undergraduate courses, and graduate courses that align with their areas of expertise. This position also includes a service and research component to strengthen our undergraduate programs. Responsibilities
- Teach four psychology courses per semester to include courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Maintain an active role developing/enhancing departmental curricula and programs while demonstrating leadership in student mentoring and advising.
- Provide service to the department, college and university by participating actively, regularly and equitably on committees and serving the departmental needs.
- Responsible for creative research scholarship and professional growth, having regional and greater reach.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. by the start date and expertise in any domain of psychology.
Assistant Professor- Terminal degree or its equivalent in training, ability, and/or experience
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Individuals able to teach social or developmental psychology.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
