It is hereby made public that for 30 working days counted from the first working day following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República, an international position is open for the recruitment of one Assistant Professor (Professor Adjunto), in the disciplinary field of Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing at the S. Superior Politécnico), hereinafter called ECPDESP, republished in a Annex to Decree-Law No. 207/2009, of August 31st, amended by Law No. 7/2010 of May 13th.
The present call follows the rulings of articles 5th, 10th-B, 15th, 17th and 29th-B of the ECPDESP and further applicable laws and regulations, particularly the Regulamento dos Concursos para Recrutamento de Professores das Carreiras Docentes na Universidade de Évora, henceforth called Regulamento, approved by the Despacho n.º9696/2024, published in the 2nd Series of Diário da República, nº 161, of August 21st , amended by Despacho n.º2123/2025, published in the 2nd Series of Diário da República, nº 32, of February 14th.
The joint order n.º 373/2000, of 31st March, made compulsory the inclusion of the following reference in all civil service recruitment procedure notices:
“As established in item h) of article 9th of the Portuguese Constitution, Public Administration, Public Administration, when acting as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunity between men and women in access to employment and in professional progression, scrupulously endeavoring to avoid any form of discrimination”.
In accordance with the aforementioned articles, and other applicable legislation, and with article 8th of the Regulamento, the following provisions will apply:
I - Authorization order - the present open position was authorized by order of the Management Board of the University of Évora, on July 10, 2026.
II - Place of work: S. João de Deus School of Nursing of the University of Évora.
III - Admission requirements:
III.1. Chapter VI of the Regulamento is applied regarding verification and compliance of the requirements of admission and exclusion of the candidates.
III.2. Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Nursing or be holder of the title of specialist in the same scientific area (under the terms of Decree-Law no. 206/2009, of 31 August and amendments), in conformity with the established in article 17th of the ECPDESP, at the date of application deadline, and cumulatively hold the title of nurse specialist in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, as provided for in Regulation n.º 391/2019, published in Diário da República 2nd series no. 85/2019 of May 3rd (Regulation of the specific competences of the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing), published in Diário da República 2nd series no. 85/2019 of May 3rd, and in Regulation No. 395/2025, (Regulation of the Specialties and Added Competences), published in Diário da República No. 58/2025, Series II, of March 24th.
III.3. The holders of a doctoral degree obtained abroad, candidates who are admitted to the competition, must have equivalence/recognition/registration of that degree to an identical degree granted by a Portuguese University, in accordance with current legislation and applicable internal regulations.
III.4. Foreign candidates, except those of an official Portuguese expression, are required to provide an officially recognized statement, demonstrating that they master Portuguese language, in both written and spoken forms.
IV — Admission requirements in absolute merit:
IV.1. Article 12º of the Regulamento is applied regarding admission in absolute merit of candidates.
IV.2. The jury will deliberate on their approval or rejection in absolute merit, through justified nominal voting, where abstentions are not allowed, considering approved in absolute merit the nominee who receives the affirmative vote of more than half of the voting jury members.
IV.3. The approval in absolute merit is considered on the overall curriculum, that the jury considers to have scientific merit and research capacity, technical-scientific and professional, pedagogical ability and performance in other activities, compatible with the area or disciplinary areas to which the competition relates, and appropriate to the respective category.
V - Valuation parameters and ranking in relative merit, respective weighting and final valuation system:
V.1. The method of selection is curricular evaluation. This curricular evaluation, takes into account the general functions committed to the teachers by no.6 of article 23rd of the ECPDESP, is based on the following items:
- a) Technical-scientific and professional performance;
- b) Pedagogical capacity;
- c) Other relevant activities;
- d) Technical-scientific and pedagogical project.
V.2. In the application of the criteria defined in number V.1., the following parameters and weights will be used:
- a) Technical-scientific and professional performance, with weight of 40%, which comprises:
- a1) Academic training and relevant professional capacity in the field of Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing: 10%;
- a2) Scientific or technological production and its relevance: 20%;
- a3) Scientific and technological coordination: 5%;
- a4) Recognition by the scientific community: 5%;
- b) Pedagogical capacity, with 20% weighting factor, which comprises:
- b1) Teaching: 5%;
- b2) Guidance of students: 5%;
- b3) Textbooks publications with ISBN and other pedagogical texts: 3%;
- b4) Innovation: 3%;
- b5) Program referred to in subparagraph d) of paragraph IX.2: 4%;
- c) Carrying out other relevant activities, with 20% weighting factor, which comprises:
- c1) University Management: 10%;
- c2) Continuing education & others: 10%.
- d) Technical-scientific and pedagogical project, with a weight of 20%, which comprises:
- d1) Have a maximum of 5000 words.
- d2) Submit a concise research proposal and a strategy for training in the subject area of the public notice, highlighting the innovative nature of the project, its relationship with the University's strategy, as well as its potential interaction with other research units or organic units from the University, especially from the S. João de Deus School of Nursing of the University of Évora. The scientific aspect must be related to the pedagogical component that the candidate intends to implement.
- d3) As in scientific work, the document must be framed by the State of the Art, Materials and Methods.
- d4). It should refer to the strategy for attracting human and financing resources that support the development and consolidation of the proposed research strategy. The candidate should also add previous results of his investigation that can support the submitted proposal.
- d5) Contain a summary of the most recent bibliographic references as well as a summary of the expected results.
V.3. The jury proceeds with the evaluation of the candidates approved in absolute merit, following the procedure laid down in article 22nd of the Regulamento.
VI - The ranking of the candidates will be the result of the weight average of quantitative scores obtained in each of the evaluation parameters, within a range of 0 to 100 points.
VII – Public hearings:
VII.1. The jury will deliberate at the first meeting on the need to hold public hearings of all candidates approved in absolute merit and are intended, in an exclusive way, to clarify what appears in the curriculum vitae submitted by the candidates, under the terms of b), nº 4 of article 23rd of ECPDESP, with all candidates being informed, at least five working days in advance, of the date and place where such hearings will take place.
VII.2. Public hearings referred to in the previous paragraph may be held by videoconference, but the jury must to ensure that these are carried out on equal terms for all candidates.
VII.3. According to subparagraph a), of paragraph 4 of article 23rd of ECPDESP the jury may also to request candidates to provide additional documentation related to the submitted curriculum.
VIII - Application submission:
VIII.1. Applications must be sent within 30 working days from the day immediately following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República.
VIII.2. The application and the rest of the application documents should preferably be submitted digitally, in PDF format, to the e-mail address drhsc@uevora.pt, or presented in person, during office hours (from 9am - 12:30p.m. and 2:00p.m. - 5:30p.m.) at the address below, or sent by registered mail, up to the deadline, to University of Évora, Divisão de Recursos Humanos, Serviços Administrativos, Largo da Srª da Natividade, 7002-554 Évora.
IX - Application form:
IX.1. The application must be completed with the filing of a Requerimento, which is available on the website of the Administrative Services of the University of Évora at:

IX.2. The Requerimento shall be accompanied by the following documents, preferably in digital format (PDF):
- a) Certificates proving that the conditions set out in the competition's opening notice are met, namely, a certificate proving holding of the required degrees and/or qualifications and a time of service issued by the service if there is a contract with the pubic administration;
- b) Curriculum vitae of the candidate, duly signed and dated, with indication of the articles and other work done and published, as well as identification of those that she/he considers most representative, for which a brief description of her/his contribution is required. The curriculum vitae must also indicate her/his pedagogical activities developed. In the curriculum vitae the candidate must respect the organization used in V.2 of this Edital.
- c) Works selected by the candidate as most representative in her/his curriculum vitae, up to a maximum of five works, and regarding them, provide a concise and explanatory description of their contribution;
- d) Scientific and pedagogical project in the disciplinary area of this competition, as referred in point V.2, paragraph d) of this Notice;
- e) Other diplomas or certificates of studies referred in the curriculum vitae.
IX.3 - In accordance with paragraph 1 of article 11 of the Regulation, failure to comply with the deadline for submitting the application, as well as failure to submit or late submission of the documents referred to in paragraphs a), b), c) and d) of point IX.2, determine the non-admission of the application.
X. Language:
X.1. The documents supporting the application must be presented in Portuguese.
