Assistant Professor in Microbiology and Immunology
Position Profile
The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University is seeking applicants in the field of neurovirology. The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time, probationary (tenure track) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The candidate will develop an externally funded research program and will be supported with dedicated space and start-up funds in an interdisciplinary environment, including core facilities and the ImPaKT CL2+/CL3 Containment Facility. There are opportunities for collaborative linkages with researchers. The successful candidate will train graduate students and handle teaching responsibilities within the Department, with protected time from teaching at the pre-tenure stage.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a PhD or MD/PhD with a demonstrated track record of external awards and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Exceptional communication skills and willingness to provide leadership in this field are required. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level, including lecture and laboratory-based courses, is preferred. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
