Department of Chinese History and Culture
The Department of Chinese History and Culture is an academic department within the Faculty of Humanities. Its mission is to offer high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that provide interdisciplinary training in the study of Chinese history and culture. Currently, the Department offers PhD and MPhil programmes, a taught-master degree programme, a major degree programme in Chinese History and Culture, two minor programmes, and university-wide general education courses. Duties
The appointee will be required to:
- engage in teaching aspects of Chinese History and Culture, especially Modern Chinese Art History, and undertake related pedagogical activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- engage in programme/curriculum design and development, consultancy projects and other scholarly activities that help promote the Department’s interests;
- undertake scholarly research in his/her area of expertise;
- provide administrative support for academic and departmental affairs; and
- perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- a PhD degree in a related discipline;
- a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
- relevant post-qualification teaching and research experience and an excellent record of relevant academic achievements; and
- an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Applicants who are well-versed in digital humanities will have an advantage.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
