Assistant Professor in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine
Applications are invited from qualified individuals for one position in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, to begin July 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be appointed to a Full-time Probationary (tenure-track) or Full-time Limited Term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. An appointment at a higher rank may be considered based on a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Qualified applicants will have a DDS/DMD degree (or equivalent), as well as advanced specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology or dual training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Medicine, granting them an MSc, PhD, or equivalent graduate degree. Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a Specialty Certificate of Registration with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) is preferred.
The successful candidate will participate in the teaching and service activities of the School, particularly in oral and maxillofacial pathology and oral medicine, and will be considered for cross-appointment in departments within and outside of the School (e.g., Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine). In addition to clinical and didactic teaching, it is expected that the candidate will participate in curriculum design renewal, monitoring of student clinical progression and participation in faculty calibration and development. For those in the tenure-track position, the candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an externally funded research program and should have a record of achievement in research appropriate for their stage of career. Any area of dental research can apply, although preference will be given to applicants with a record of research relevant to the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Medicine.
Successful candidates should possess a demonstrated aptitude for leadership as well as teaching and clinical mentoring of junior colleagues, students, or residents in either community dental practice or institutional programs. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language and must be willing to work in a collaborative manner in both teaching and administration. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The opportunity for private practice is afforded by the provision of a consulting privilege of one day per week.
