The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, as a board certified/board eligible full-time Pediatrician. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities

Patient Care - 90%
The position will provide clinical care for the pediatric patient population in the inpatient setting. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education. The position will maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated, and share weekday, weekend, and holiday emergent/after-hours call coverage.

Teaching/Instruction - 10%
Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents/medical students/staff at MCG/AU and develop a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Required Qualifications

MD/DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Board eligible or certified in Pediatrics. Must have or be able to obtain a medical license in the state of Georgia, obtain a federal DEA, and be CPR certified. Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
