We invite you as a driven researcher to lead pioneering research on the front lines of societal division, understanding the Roots of "Reality Polarisation, Extremism, Populism and Conspiracy Belief". This position is part of a long-term collaboration between Dr. André Krouwel and Prof. Dr. Jan-Willem van Prooijen, supported by SSH funding. The assistant professor will be embedded in the Political Communication Group at the department of Communication Science.
The Challenge: Contemporary societies are increasingly defined by fractured political landscapes and profound perception gaps. Your research will investigate the communication processes that drive this phenomenon.
Your Mission: Conduct cutting-edge research on reality polarisation, employing innovative methodologies, and collaborating within a vibrant international research network.
Your Duties: Design and implement online panel surveys, conduct secondary analysis of existing datasets, develop novel measures, and acquire external research funding.
Requirements: A completed PhD in a relevant field, expertise in quantitative methods, experience with cross-national data, and proficiency in statistical software.
Conditions of Employment: Fixed-term contract for 18 months, salary between €4,728 and €6,433 per month, 38 hours per week, located at De Boelelaan 1105, Amsterdam.
