The Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science is a world-leading centre for theoretically informed and practically relevant research on human behaviour, wellbeing, and decision-making. We are seeking an outstanding scholar whose research and teaching lie at the intersection of behavioural science and sustainability. This post is housed within PBS and contributes to the Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) under the Building Sustainable Societies theme — a cross-LSE initiative advancing research and policy impact on behavioural change, wellbeing, and sustainable futures.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Undertake high-quality research on the behavioural and psychological dimensions of sustainability, social transformation, and climate action.
  • Build interdisciplinary collaborations and contribute to research impact through the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science and Global School of Sustainability.
  • Teach and supervise across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science and help develop innovative sustainability-related teaching.
  • Contribute to the collegial life and effective governance of the Department and the wider School.

Applicants should have:

  • A completed PhD, in Psychology, Behavioural Science, or related field, by the post start date
  • Expertise in innovative quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • A clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications aligned to both the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science and Global School of Sustainability themes.

The other criteria that will be used when shortlisting for this post can be found on the person specification, which is attached to this vacancy on the LSE’s online recruitment system.

In addition to a competitive salary the benefits that come with this job include an occupational pension scheme, a research grants policy with personal reward options, generous research leave (sabbatical) entitlement, a collegial faculty environment and excellent support, training and development opportunities.
