Job Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of assistant professor, beginning in Fall 2027. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research and teaching and complement and/or strengthen our existing research group. Applications from underrepresented groups and minorities are especially welcome.
The search is open to all areas of statistics. Applicants with a background in theoretical statistics are especially encouraged to apply. Current research in the statistics group of the department includes statistical learning, high-dimensional statistics, data privacy, Bayesian statistics, sequential analysis, scientific machine learning, and random matrix theory.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in statistics or a closely related field by August 16, 2027
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching mathematics or statistics at a higher education institution
- Background in theoretical statistics
