In connection with the implementation of a research project financed by the Polish Science Fund under the Virtual Research Institute programme No. UoF/03-WIB-3/2023-003 entitled: “Personalized vascular endothelial diagnostics in cancer therapy: towards modern vasculo-oncology” [acronym: ADEVASCO]

is seeking a candidate to join the
Research Team
Position: Assistant Professor in the research staff group (f/m)
Role in the project: Support Staff - Junior Researcher
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PERSON EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION WILL INCLUDE:
- conducting oncology eligibility assessments of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) for participation in the project, in accordance with the study methodology and current treatment guidelines,
- verifying inclusion and exclusion criteria and supervising the proper conduct of the patient recruitment process,
- conducting a detailed medical history, assessing clinical status, and documenting the course of oncological treatment,
- participating in the planning and monitoring of anticancer therapy, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and chemoimmunotherapy, in accordance with the study protocol,
- assessing the safety of anticancer treatment and identifying adverse events, with particular attention to cardiovascular complications,
- working closely with cardiologists to provide comprehensive cardio-oncology care for study participants,
- participating in repeated follow-up visits in accordance with the project schedule and supervising the completeness of medical documentation,
- participating in the collection, verification and interpretation of clinical data in accordance with the applicable study protocol, project procedures and legal regulations,
- cooperating with the team responsible for endothelial function and microcirculation assessments, as well as biomarker, metabolomic, lipidomic and proteomic analyses,
- participating in the development of research results, analysis of clinical data, and preparation of periodic reports, progress reports and scientific publications,
- actively cooperating with the interdisciplinary research team and participating in scientific and organizational project meetings,
- complying with confidentiality, intellectual property protection and Virtual Research Institute programme requirements.
WE EXPECT CANDIDATES TO HAVE:
- a licence to practise medicine in the Republic of Poland,
- specialist qualification in clinical oncology,
- a doctoral degree in medical sciences or health sciences,
- experience in treating patients with lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),
- experience in conducting clinical trials or research projects,
- experience in qualifying patients for systemic treatment and monitoring its safety,
- experience in preparing scientific publications,
- experience in cardio-oncology research will be an additional advantage,
- knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles will be an additional advantage,
- very good command of English.

Under the ADEVASCO Research Team Funding Agreement, a Research Team Member is required to:
- maintain the confidentiality of information obtained in connection with the performance of the Research Task, in particular Intellectual Property;
- refrain from undertaking any professional activity exceeding the total monthly limit of 276 (two hundred and seventy-six) clock hours for all professional activities, and provide a declaration confirming compliance with this condition whenever requested by the Managing Entity;
- refrain from undertaking any competitive activity directly or indirectly related to the Research Task in which Intellectual Property is or may be disclosed or used, or any activity which (or the result of which) hinders or prevents (or, on reasonable assessment, would hinder or prevent) effective protection or Commercialization of Intellectual Property. Indirect competitive activity shall include in particular activity conducted by an entity in which the Research Team Member is a partner, shareholder, stockholder, member of the management board or member of other management, advisory or control/supervisory bodies, as well as by an entity which the Research Team Member actually manages despite not having the status of a partner, shareholder, stockholder, member of the management board or member of another management, advisory or control/supervisory body;
- transfer Intellectual Property, to the broadest extent permitted by law, to the Medical University of Gdańsk in such a way that the Project Leader may ultimately transfer the Intellectual Property to the State Treasury - the minister competent for higher education and science;
- cooperate in seeking protection or Commercialization of Intellectual Property, refrain from exercising moral rights, and authorize the current holder of the economic copyrights to the Intellectual Property, including in particular the State Treasury - the minister competent for higher education and science - to exercise such rights;
- comply with the Agreement, all VRI documentation and the rules contained therein, in particular by fulfilling the obligations imposed on Research Team Members by such documentation;
- sign and submit to the Managing Entity the Research Team Member Declaration in accordance with the attached template.
