In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University announces opening of the following position with submission deadline January 31, 2027
We invite applications for a faculty position at the rank of an assistant professor in the area of theoretical computer science. We are looking for candidates that would complement and/or strengthen existing research areas in our institute. Strong candidates from all areas of theoretical computer science will be considered. For further information about our research see http://iuuk.mff.cuni.cz/. Informal inquiries are welcome and may be sent to Robert Samal samal@iuuk.mff.cuni.cz. A successful candidate is expected to pursue an active research program, teach advanced and introductory classes and possibly supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates are expected to have a proven international research record and significant experience abroad (Ph.D. studies or postdoctoral fellowship). A PhD in computer science or a closely related field is required at the time of starting the contract. The contract duration is three years. Potentially, the position is renewable. This is a tenure-track position, a habilitation (associate professor promotion) and a permanent position is a standard possibility (subject to a separate review process). In justified cases, e.g., if the applicant completes his doctoral studies in the period between the submission of the application and the date of starting the employment relationship, the applicant must provide proof of the completed doctoral studies before signing the employment contract, but no later than 9 months after the application deadline.

Qualifications
Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area by the starting date, awarded at most 8 years ago (excluding parental leave), research and teaching experience in a relevant field, positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate research and teaching activities as well as supervising student theses, publication record in impact journals and/or conference proceedings and publication media recognized by the community in the relevant area, experience from foreign academic or research institutions.
