Job Duties:
As a faculty member, this person is expected to have high professional and ethical standards and to be able to perform as an excellent teacher, researcher and provide service to the University, College and Department. A person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in business analytics, artificial intelligence, enterprise systems, security, data management and additional courses across the information systems curriculum (e.g., project management, cloud technology, systems analysis, artificial intelligence, networking). The Information Systems department offers an Information Systems major and minor and a Business Analytics major and minor. This person is also responsible for engaging in high-quality research, consistent with AACSB international accreditation standards and departmental expectations, and providing service at the department, college, and university levels.
I. Teaching
- Preparation and teaching of nine credits (three courses) per semester when deemed scholarly active based on departmental/college research expectations (12 credits, 4 courses, if not deemed scholarly active).
- Advising of majors and minors in Information Systems department programs.
- Advising student projects, independent studies, undergraduate research, and internship students when appropriate.
- Re-designing courses, developing new courses, contributing to inter-disciplinary minors, and engaging in the development of new programs, when appropriate.
II. Research/Scholarly Activity
- Engaging in scholarly activities related to the Information Systems discipline that result in published refereed articles.
- Engaging in other scholarly activities related to the Information Systems discipline such as presenting papers at academic conferences or professional meetings, publishing non-referred articles, authoring books and book reviews, reviewing articles for a journal, or obtaining grants.
III. Service
- Engaging in service activities and committees at the department, college, and university levels.
- Engaging in professional and community service related to one’s profession.
- Participating in department, college and university assessment initiatives.
We are seeking one (1), tenure-track Assistant Professor positions that will begin in the fall of 2026 (the possibility for a spring 2026 hire does exist).
The College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse includes six academic departments and the Small Business Development Center. The CBA has over 3,000 students enrolled in one of the eight majors offered. It also offers seven minors and participates in the UW System’s online MBA consortium. Fully accredited by AACSB International, the CBA is recognized for high-quality faculty, staff, programs, and students, and maintains strong regional and global partnerships. Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in MIS, IS, CIS or closely related field. ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level or documented teaching effectiveness at the university level.
- Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed outlets consistent with AACSB expectations in the areas of information systems and/or business analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in two or more of the following areas: Business Analytics, Data Management, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Analysis and Design, Security and Enterprise Systems.
