"Assistant Professor/Instructor of Exercise Science and Kinesiology"

Buena Vista University invites applicants for a unique professor opportunity in exercise science and kinesiology. The Assistant Professor/Instructor of Exercise Science and Kinesiology with an emphasis in strength and condition or exercise physiology, in brief, is situated in the School of Science, but contains a dual role in the Department of Athletics. The seventy-five percent teaching load includes classes and labs in the areas of kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and sports science, with an emphasis in supporting the new strength and conditioning track in the major. Twenty-five percent of the expected load is a collaborative role working in the Department of Athletics as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, developing and implementing training programs through direct coaching of student athletes.

Buena Vista University offers strong science programs with excellent laboratory facilities. Exercise science inhabits a newly remodeled, specifically equipped facility for classes. A minimum of a Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline is required for the non-tenure track, instructor level. Tenure track candidates require a Ph.D. Those with postdoctoral research or teaching experience will be given preference. This is a full-time position that begins August 2026.
