Assistant Professor
Job Summary
The Department of Counseling Psychology at The University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the field of counseling psychology. We seek a candidate to contribute to the department's expertise in counseling psychology research to address pressing societal concerns. Preferred areas of research include: research methods in counseling psychology, counseling psychology professional issues, psychotherapy process and outcome research, and psychology of work and the future of work. Candidates with methodological expertise in novel quantitative methods are especially encouraged to apply.
The desired candidates will have the ability to contribute to instruction and supervision in our PhD program in counseling psychology, M.S. program in counseling, and undergraduate instruction related to our cross-departmental major in Health Promotion and Health Equity.
Candidates will be expected to contribute to training emphasizing scientist practitioner perspectives, possess competence to serve individuals currently underserved for mental health and wellness across treatment settings, and to uphold APA and ACA professional and ethical standards. Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate service in the field that has a specific focus in Counseling Psychology and/or components that are specific to the profession of Counseling Psychology.
Candidates should demonstrate (a) evidence of scholarly productivity commensurate with rank, including likelihood of external funding; and (b) strong competence in classroom instruction, counseling, and clinical supervision. Candidates who are licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Wisconsin are encouraged to apply.
