SUMMARY
The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Motor Behavior to begin August 2026. The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses four undergraduate majors (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Sport Management). The department has experienced significant student growth due to its commitment to quality teaching, experiential learning, and influential scholarship. JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching (50%)
- Expected 3-3 course load
- Teaches undergraduate courses in motor behavior
- Provides quality student advisement
Scholarly Activity (30%)
- Publishes peer-reviewed articles in national or international journals, delivers professional presentations at regional and national conferences, and engages in other scholarly activities
Service (20%)
- Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives as appropriate
- Provides service to the department, university, community, and profession
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate degree in Kinesiology, Motor Behavior, or related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college. ABD candidates will be considered, but must earn their doctoral degree within six months of hire.
- The ability to teach undergraduate courses in motor learning and motor development
- The ability to provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- The ability to provide quality mentorship to undergraduate students
- The ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda
- The ability to provide service to the university community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous college level teaching experience
- Ability to teach other sport studies-related courses
- Previous experience mentoring undergraduate students
- Previous record of refereed publications and scholarly presentations
- Previous record of service, university or otherwise
