There are two (2) tenure-track Assistant Professor openings available. Candidates of all voice types are encouraged to apply.
Faculty Assignments:
- Teach applied voice lessons to undergraduate students.
- Co-teach voice studio class.
- May teach in additional areas based on department needs and candidate's experience, such as diction, vocal techniques, music theory/aural skills, functional piano, music appreciation, music business, music technology, jazz and commercial music, or other areas as assigned.
- Actively participate in areas reviewed for promotion and tenure, including teaching effectiveness, professional growth, and service activities (including, but not limited to, advising, academic duties, and recruitment and retention efforts on- and off- campus).
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate or ABD (with completion by Aug. 1, 2026) in music. Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university.
- Elevated profile or promising trajectory as a vocalist.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and perform in multiple genres such as: Classical, musical theatre, jazz, and/or commercial styles (to include rock, gospel, hip-hop, country, etc).
- Demonstrated experience in teaching/directing opera/theatre.
- Demonstrated ability to teach vocal diction, literature, and pedagogy.
- Demonstrated commitment to recruiting and retaining students.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate students and work collegially when interacting with the University community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
