The College of Nursing is searching for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position to begin in Fall 2026.
POSITION SUMMARY: The College of Nursing (CON) is committed to scientific inquiry, knowledge development, and excellence in teaching. ... The successful candidate will have a background in palliative care with a research focus in this area.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain a robust program of research in palliative care and germane to nursing and health that is supported by extramural funding.
- Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
- Contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the University by mentoring students and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
- Service to the college, university, and profession.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
- PhD degree or other research degree at time of appointment.
- Master's degree in nursing.
- CV potential for/actual research, scholarship, and teaching effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in writing skills.
- Clinical expertise in palliative care.
- Eligible for RN or APRN licensure in Rhode Island.
- Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
PREFERRED:
- Postdoctoral training related to program of research in the focus area.
- Demonstrated experience in classroom and/or clinical teaching.
- Evidence of successful research collaborations.
- Demonstrated ability to write competitive applications for extramural funding.
