Job Summary
The Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Criminology at Troy University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology/Archaeology Lab Coordinator position to begin August 01, 2026. The position is a twelve-month appointment with a 2/2 teaching load for the academic year.
The department is seeking a colleague whose work complements and augments the research of our current faculty across the department. We are also seeking a candidate who can offer courses that expand and support our existing curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Our department is dedicated to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment and welcomes opportunities to work with, mentor, and advise students from diverse backgrounds, academic interests, and learning styles. Responsibilities include teaching archaeologically focused courses half-time and dedicating half-time to managing the Archaeology lab. Lab duties include artifact processing and cataloging, curating archaeological collections in compliance with state and federal regulations, and training students in archaeological laboratory and field methods.
