The Natural Sciences Division at Southwestern College, Winfield, KS invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026.
The Assistant Professor of Biology teaches a variety of courses that contribute to the core requirements for majors in the Natural Sciences. These courses would include introductory biology courses with laboratory components, health science courses, and pre-nursing courses. Additional teaching assignments would include upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and courses that support and complement current departmental offerings. This position will also contribute to courses within the general education curriculum. Co-curricular responsibilities include academic advising of students within the Natural Sciences Division.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach a customary load of 2-3 courses, most of which also include a laboratory component involving 1 or more sections, per semester (approximately 12 semester hours) in the undergraduate program.
- Departmental duties include advising students, participating in department and campus-wide committees, collaborating with faculty on Natural Science Division programs, and service to the campus and community.
- Maintain professional currency in field by participating in field-relevant conferences, professional development, and creative activities.
