The Dean of Faculty of Medicine of University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure for position:

Assistant Professor of Biology

Position Type: Assistant Professor

Description of the work position:

• Provides instruction in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs (including supervising and reviewing theses) and contributes to the development of these degree programs.
• In the case of approval by the scientific council of the faculty, the assistant professor participates in the provision of doctoral study programs.
• Actively engages in creative work (primarily by independently tackling complex research and development tasks, actively publishing, actively participating in scientific conferences and professional meetings, and actively presenting the results of their creative work).
• They contribute to the university’s third role primarily by promoting creative activities, by handling the administrative tasks associated with those activities, and by participating in the university’s self-governance.

Expected workload: 30-100 %

Expected start date: November 1, 2026, or by agreement

Salary conditions:

The salary is determined by the candidate’s classification according to the University's internal salary regulations and also depends on the candidate's experience and their involvement in research grant activities.

Skills/Qualifications

Qualifications - Requirements:

• A university degree in medicine, healthcare, or economics (with a focus on healthcare)
• A doctoral degree in the specified field or a related field
• Active publishing in the field
• Personal and professional qualifications for independent teaching and scientific research activities; publishing activities and professional development;
• Potential for further scientific research and creative activities;
• Knowledge of Italian – C1–C2;

Qualifications – preferred:

• Teaching experience in the field
• Professional experience
• Knowledge of English

EU Research level: R2 – Recognized

Languages: ITALIAN

Level: Excellent
