Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Natural Sciences is seeking excellent candidates for a tenure track position for the Assistant Professor Rank in Biotechnology with extensive research experience at both the doctoral and postdoctoral level, with active and recent publications in the field of discipline. The successful candidate should have sound/extensive knowledge and research experience in Plant Biotechnology that includes gene cloning, gene editing (preferred), transfection, tissue culture, and hardening. The candidate should be well versed in troubleshooting plant tissue culture and greenhouse-related issues. The successful candidate should have experience in writing grants. The candidate will support departmental core course instruction for graduate students in plant biotechnology, advanced molecular biology, tissue culture, and cell biology, specific to plant sciences. The candidate should also be able to provide instruction to undergraduate students, as needed. The candidate will establish a productive and vibrant student-based research program in the area of Plant Biotechnology, will contribute to scholarly research activities, and will provide mentorship to both graduate and undergraduate students in research activities. The candidate will also support various departmental services such as active contributions to student advisement and the promotion of the graduate program to undergraduate students and external partners. Candidate must be ready to be an active participant in departmental and University-wide committees.
