Assistant Professor of Business Analytics

The Department of Management, Marketing, Logistics, and Business Analytics in UAA's College of Business and Public Policy is seeking an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics to teach and mentor students in Business and Data Analytics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. You will conduct research in these fields, covering topics such as machine learning, data mining, and predictive modeling, while also contributing to the university and community through service. This full-time, tenure-track role requires a Ph.D. in Business Analytics or Data Science and is a 9-month appointment beginning in August 2027.

UAA is a comprehensive public institution with a main campus in Anchorage, supported by community campuses and extension sites across Alaska. The College of Business and Public Policy is accredited by AACSB and offers BBA Degrees in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Business and Data Analytics, and Marketing, along with MBA, MPA, and MPP Graduate programs, Associate degrees, and various Occupational Endorsement Certificates.

The Assistant Professor of Business Analytics is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position in the Management, Marketing, Logistics, and Business Analytics Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage. This role includes responsibilities in (1) teaching, (2) research, and (3) providing professional service to the university, the profession/discipline, and the community. The teaching load is three courses per semester, beginning in August 2027. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in subjects such as Business Analytics, Data Science, and AI.

A successful candidate should have expertise in teaching and research within Business Analytics, AI, and Data Science fields. The candidate should be capable of teaching advanced concepts and have a strong foundation in relevant technical skills, paired with effective teaching and communication abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Business Analytics, or Data Science, is required.

A Ph.D. fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Machine Learning will also be considered if applicant has completed relevant coursework and/or has relevant industry experience.

Candidates who are ABD may be considered if they provide evidence that degree completion will occur prior to the hire date.

Ph.D. must be from an AACSB accredited institution. Non-business Ph.D. degrees must be from an institution whose business program is accredited by AACSB or from a program accredited by an association comparable to AACSB (e.g., ABET).

Preferred Experience:

Relevant industry experience in Business Analytics, AI, Data Science, or related fields.

Completion of relevant coursework in Business Analytics, AI, Data Science, or related fields.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska by the position start date. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
