Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the fields of theoretical and computational chemistry, with an anticipated start date of August 2027.
Areas of particular interest include quantum molecular science (electronic structure theory, molecular modeling, and quantum dynamics) and the application of machine learning to theoretical chemistry. We encourage applications from candidates with a compelling vision for the development of new theory and methods, whether directed at fundamental questions in chemistry or at any of the interfaces with quantum science, condensed phase and materials chemistry, catalysis and reaction dynamics, spectroscopy, or biophysical chemistry.
CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. We are committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Who We Are
CU Boulder offers an exceptional setting for quantum sciences. CU hosts interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs in chemical physics and materials science and engineering; JILA, a joint institute with the National Institute of Standards and Technology; a campus quantum ecosystem including the CUbit Quantum Initiative, the Quantum Engineering Initiative, and the National Quantum Nanofab; RASEI, a joint institute with the National Laboratory of the Rockies; and extensive shared characterization facilities. Boulder is also home to one of the nation's densest clusters of quantum technology companies, anchored by the federally designated Elevate Quantum tech hub.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded independent research program, to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to mentor students and postdoctoral researchers.
