Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice - Anesthesiologist
Job Summary
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Anesthesiology has an opening for a full-time Anesthesiologist at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals have top nationally-recognized physicians delivering the best possible anesthetic care as well as a full range of perioperative care. The anesthesiologist provides specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The attending anesthesiologist administers care alone or supervises physicians-in-training (residents), certified registered nurse anesthetists, and certified anesthesiologist assistants. When working alone, he/she examines the patient before and after anesthesia, writes pre- and post-anesthesia orders, confirms that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manages the anesthetic period, and follows the patient as long as is appropriate in the post-anesthesia period.
As an attending anesthesiologist, the candidate may be required to perform these services in the operating room, in the labor and delivery area, in radiology, and in the outpatient procedure center. Except in specific emergency situations, the administration of anesthesia is limited to areas where anesthesia can be given safely. One or more attendings will be available at all times to provide these services.
The position is full-time and will be assigned clinical duties in any of the University of Colorado School of Medicine-affiliated hospitals to include University of Colorado Hospital affiliates.
The candidate must have a strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine. All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.
- All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Applicants must be fellowship-trained or have significant post-residency experience (5+ years).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine.

Anticipated Pay Range
The starting salary range for this position has been established as $330,165.
