Assistant Professor of Counselor Education
Assistant Professor of Counselor Education with Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI)
Teach a full load of courses including Theories of Personality, Group Processes, Professional Ethics for Counselors and Psychologists, Multicultural Issues for Counselors and Psychologists, Career Development, Professional Portfolio, and Professional Practice Management Issues for Clinical Mental Health. Teach courses at various times, including evenings. Lead curriculum development to meet CACREP and state accreditation standards. Ensure essential curricular components and effective pedagogy in courses. Contribute to university policy development and guiding principles. Engage with prospective students and address inquiries. Overseeing class budgets, student activities, and program development. Participate in core faculty, departmental, and university meetings. Meet with students, attending to course demands, and fulfilling research requirements. Maintain clear communication with students about course content and expectations. Assist with student recruitment, retention, and academic advising, including maintaining office hours. Stay updated on counseling trends and developments through professional development. Uphold an active research agenda through conference presentations and publications.
Position allows for partial remote work. Must live within reasonable commuting distance. Reports to university office in Berrien Springs, MI.
Requires a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education or related field and 1 year of related experience. Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Counselor education and supervision, including individual or group counseling; Teaching at the graduate level in counseling or psychology programs, including course development and delivery; Statistical analysis software, specifically SPSS and Excel, for conducting quantitative research and data analysis; Learning Management System (Moodle) in higher education settings, including course setup, management, and student assessment; and Mentoring and advising students or professionals in counseling-related fields.
