The Department of Finance and Economics in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics position beginning August 2026.

Successful candidates must be academically qualified to teach a variety of undergraduate (including General Education) and graduate courses in Economics, particularly Intermediate Microeconomics Theory, a capstone course, and at least two microeconomics subfields, such as labor and game theory. Responsibilities include teaching nine credit hours per semester, research leading to quality-refereed journal publications, and engage in service activities related to the department, College, and University, including efforts to engage and retain students, mentor student clubs, and connect UTC with the business community in Chattanooga. Salary and benefits are competitive with peer institutions.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field (or be in the ABD stage of their doctoral studies) with expected completion of the Ph.D. prior to the position start date. In addition to excellent communication skills, applicants must be able to provide instruction in a variety of modalities, including online.

Preference will be given to applicants who apply before October 15, 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Initial interviews will be conducted via Zoom. Candidates invited for on-campus interviews will be required to give a teaching presentation and a research presentation.
