Job Summary
The Sigmund Weis School of Business is one of a few programs accredited by AACSB-International that focus exclusively on undergraduate education; 27 faculty members serve 700 majors. The Sigmund Weis School of Business (SWSB) of Susquehanna University seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Economics, Finance, & Analytics. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in Fall 2026.
Specific Responsibilities
Undergraduate teaching includes analytics courses and introductory corporate finance and economics courses. In addition, the potential to teach upper-level courses based on the candidate's qualifications and interests. Additional responsibilities include scholarship, advising students, and service within the Sigmund Weis School of Business and across the University.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics, Finance, or Analytics. Candidates who are ABD with expected completion prior to start date will also be considered. A record that illustrates current (or suggests the potential for) excellent teaching is also required. This candidate will be expected to interact openly and inspire students through their teaching strategies, which demonstrate a high level of organization and communication. Required qualifications include:
- Ability to teach an introductory corporate finance class.
- Ability to teach an introductory and upper-level data analytics courses.
- Ability to teach principles of economics courses as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience in the finance or analytics industry
- Ability to teach courses in risk management or real estate
- Ability to teach upper-level economics courses.
Candidates will need to meet the School's definition of a Scholarly Academic and demonstrate they are an active academic scholar in a business (or related) discipline.
To do this, a faculty member must either have received his/her Ph.D. within the past 5 years or must have at least two quality peer-reviewed publications within the prior 5 years. Note: New Ph.D.'s are considered SA for five years after receiving their Ph.D. By the end of the fifth year, the faculty member must meet the general SA requirements.
